The hugely popular event is back for its second year and once again takes place at Karon Beach, running yesterday and concluding today.
Joining Mr Rewat at the opening ceremony festivities was Lertchai Wangtrakuldee, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Phuket Office, and Ratchadaporn O-in, Director of the Tourism and Sports Phuket office, in addition to selecetd government officials and guests.
The event strives to uncover local sporting talent who may be able to go on and forge a career in the sport of surfing, an event that makes its official bow at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris this month.
In addition to the surfing action, the event places a significant focus on sustainability, specifically in regards to responsible approcahes to waste management, which ensures Phuket maintains a good image that is atrractive to tourists from allover the world.
Furthermore, there will be various entrepreneurs and small business owners setting up a range of stalls in the nearby area, offering everything from marine goods to arts and crafts to food and drinks. There is also a street art exhibition and live musical entertainment with DJs playing throughout the festival.
Today’s action runs from 10am to 8pm and all are welcome to come along and join in the fun.
