The ceremony began at 6am with offerings of food to monks, followed by a Buddhist ritual and dry food alms-giving from the people. Presiding over the event was Phuket Vice Governor Samawit Suphanphai, joined by Phra Khru Wisutkitiyaphon, Abbot of Wat Kitti Sangkharam (Wat Kata) and Advisor to the Sangha Chief of Phuket Province.
In his New Year’s address, Vice Governor Samawit emphasised the importance of unity and love among the people of Phuket. He expressed his commitment to driving the province toward greater prosperity and extended heartfelt wishes for happiness and success in the year ahead.
Phuket Town Mayor Saroj Angkanapilas also addressed the crowd, extending his blessings and reaffirming the municipality’s dedication to improving residents’ quality of life.
“Phuket City Municipality will continue striving to make our city a creative hub, blending our unique culture with technological advancements,” he said.
The event highlighted the collective spirit and aspirations of the people of Phuket, who are determined to make the province an even more livable and prosperous community in 2025, said an official report of the event.
