The announcement was made at an official ceremony at the Chalermprakiat Building in Bangkok where it was confirmed Mr Thammarat had received 14 votes and was therefore elected to head the category of provincial sports associations representatives.

Wanida Phansa-ard, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, oversaw the ceremony and was joined by: Meechai Inwood, Deputy Governor of SAT Administration; Preecha Lalun, Deputy Governor of SAT Sports Excellence and Sports Science; Surasak Ketchantuek, Deputy Governor of SAT Sports Promotion; Somcharoen Mingkhamlert, Director of the SAT Governor’s Office; and Kongpop Phothisuwan, Director of Regional Sports.

Additionally, Associate Professor Chanchai Suksuwan, President of the Jujitsu Sports Association of Thailand, was elected as a SAT board member at the same ceremony.

A post-election celebration was held once the announcements had been finalised where all attendees congratulated both Mr Thammarat and Mr Chanchai on their respective appointments.

Mr Thammarat’s appointment came after he was recently re-elected to serve as the president of the Sports Association of Phuket.

He has lived in Phuket for over 30 years and worked at the Sports Association for the last 10 years, committing himself diligently to, in his own words, developing the sports industry in Phuket to be strong, stable and progressive.
