The event saw the release of 500,000 shrimp into local waters.
Phuket Vice Governor Norasak Suksomboon presided over the ceremony, which was attended by key figures including Phuket Town Deputy Mayor Prasit Sinsaowaphak and Phuket Provincial Fisheries Chief Prayut Rattanawan.
The event also saw participation from the Phuket Provincial Prosecutor, heads of government agencies, civil servants, students, local business operators and residents.
The ceremony was held not only to honour Queen Sirikit’s birthday but also to contribute to the conservation of marine resources, said Phuket Fisheries Chief Mr Prayut.
The release of the shrimp aims to enhance the abundance of aquatic life in local water sources and along the coast, providing benefits for local fishing communities and supporting the livelihoods of fishing operators, he added.
The event showed a commitment to sustainable practices and the preservation of natural resources, ensuring that future generations can continue to benefit from the rich marine life in the region, Mr Prayut noted.
