Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana, born Suthida Tidjai, became Queen through her marriage to His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun on May 1, 2019. The Cabinet declared June 3 a national holiday on May 14 that year to commemorate the birthday of Her Majesty the Queen.
The events to honor HM’s birthday on June 3 will include offering alms to Buddhist monks and praying at the new Phuket Provincial Hall in the morning, as well as the ’Phan Phum’ laying ceremony and a candle lighting ceremony in the evening.
The Phuket office of the Immigration Bureau was among the first to announce that it will be closed on June 3 and will resume normal operations on June 4, just as other government offices around the country will do.
The Queen’s Birthday is also a banking holiday, as announced by the Bank of Thailand (BOT). All financial institutions around the Kingdom will be closed on June 3, except for bank branches at shopping malls.
Most private companies also recognize the Queen’s Birthday as a holiday on their corporate calendar, though some may be open for business.
