HM Queen Suthida’s birthday this year falls on Tuesday (June 3), but Cabinet has granted a special new holiday this year on the preceding day, Monday (June 2), to add to the celebrations.
HM The Queen’s birthday is recognised as a national holiday, meaning all government offices will be closed over the two days. Normal government services will resume on Wednesday (June 4).
Her Majesty Queen Suthida, born Suthida Tidjai, became Queen through her marriage to His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun on May 1, 2019. The Cabinet declared June 3 a national holiday on May 14 that year to commemorate the birthday of Her Majesty the Queen.
Each year, special celebrations are held throughout the country to celebrate Her Majesty’s birthday.
EXTRA HOLIDAYS
Cabinet on Nov 12 last year approved three extra public holidays to create longer, consecutive breaks aimed at boosting domestic tourism and stimulating the economy.
A special holiday was added for Monday, Aug 11, this year as it precedes the annual nationwide celebrations for Mother’s Day, held as part of the commemorations of the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother.
This year The Queen Mother, Royal Consort to Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, will be celebrating her 93rd birthday.
Also added as a special public holiday was Jan 2, 2026.
The Bank of Thailand has confirmed that the holidays applies to financial institutions as well.
