Specifically, 13 people were arrested for offences under the Immigration Act.
Seven foreigners were arrested for overstay during the period Sept 1-30, said the report, one of four reports released by Phuket Immigration yesterday.
One person was charged for not complying with the 90-day reporting requirement under Section 37(5) of the Immigration Act, while two home owners or managers of residences were charged under Section 38 of the act for not reporting foreigners staying at their venues.
Two foreigners were arrested for robbery, and one foreigner was arrested on an outstanding warrant, the report said. No details of the three arrests were given.
Phuket Immigration had identified 228 “targets”: 77 in Chalong, 38 in Patong, 26 in Phuket Town, 25 in Wichit, 15 in Cherng Talay, 13 in Kathu, 12 in Kamala, 10 in Thalang, seven in Karon, four in Sakhu and one in Tha Chatchai.
Immigration checked 375 “aliens” during the period, with the top five countries of origin given as: Russia (128), China (28), United Kingdom (23), Myanmar (20) and Canada (18).
In total, nine ‘Yellow Cards’ were issued during September. Seven of those were to foreigners: two Brits, two Myanmar nationals and one Russian. The remaining two ‘Yellow Cards’ were not attributed to any particular nationality.
According to the ‘Arrivals By Air’ report for September, 40,210 Russians arrived directly in Phuket during the month, followed by 37,343 Chinese nationals, 21,108 Australians, 18,990 Indian nationals and 13,086 Malaysians.
During the month, a total of 242,780 foreigners arrived in Phuket by air, with 288,528 foreigners having their place of stay recorded with Immigration.
In total, 22,349 foreigners arrived in Phuket by sea, as follows: Singapore nationals 7,838, Malaysia 5,035, Indonesia 2,081, India 1,279 and Philippines 1,267.
Five cruise liners visited Phuket during the past month, along with 30 private yachts and 15 cargo vessels, but zero fishing boats, said the reports.
