The warning follows Announcement No. 16/2568 from the Office of National Water Resources, which highlighted the risk of flash floods, forest runoff and landslides in upstream areas. The CDMC has instructed all districts, local administrations, government agencies and village headmen in Phuket to alert residents and take precautionary measures to minimise damage to life and property.

Authorities have been ordered to closely monitor rainfall levels, reservoir capacity and water retention in high-risk zones. Reservoirs exceeding 80% capacity will be watched for overflow risks. Officials are to be ready with personnel and machinery to respond immediately to emergencies.

Natural tourist sites will be closed if heavy rain makes them unsafe. Flooded underpasses and tunnels are to be shut to traffic, with water pumped out to prevent congestion. Authorities have also been told to be alert to the danger of electrical leaks in inundated areas and to cut power if necessary, said the warning.

With strong winds expected, coastal residents will be warned of dangerous conditions and tourists will be prohibited from swimming in the sea where necessary during the period. Boat operators and captains will be told to exercise extreme caution, and in severe weather, all vessels will be banned from leaving shore.

In the event of flash floods or forest runoff, officials are to start drainage operations immediately, deploying extra pumps to boost water removal in vulnerable zones. Areas at risk of mudslides will be monitored around the clock, with water levels and turbidity checked upstream, midstream and downstream. Evacuation orders will be issued if disaster indicators are observed.

Residents are urged to report emergencies or request assistance via their local administration or district office, or by calling the 1784 safety hotline on 076-510098, or through Line ID: 1784DDPM. Assistance will be available 24 hours a day.

District Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Centres are also required to report daily to the provincial centre until conditions return to normal.
