The announcement came during the monthly provincial meeting held at Phuket Provincial Hall yesterday (July 1), chaired by Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat.
The campaign aims to encourage people of all ages to uphold five core virtues: sufficiency, discipline, honesty, volunteerism and gratitude, said an official report of the announcement.
The Puangphaka Chaowwai, Chief of the Phuket office of the Ministry of Culture, reported that Phuket was recently recognised by the National Morality Promotion Committee as an ‘Outstanding Model Morality Province’ for its performance in 2024.
The recognition also included honours for Wat Thep Wanaram (Wat Manik) as a model moral community, the Phuket Provincial Education Area Office as a model organisation, and Kathu as a model moral district.
“The province will integrate morality into policy and practice through education, public awareness and support from all sectors,” Phuket Governor Sophon said at the meeting.
Officials were urged to follow religious principles, the sufficiency economy philosophy and Thai values while opposing corruption and misconduct.
“All government agencies and local communities to help build a ‘virtuous society’ that contributes to national stability and long-term sustainability,” he urged.
