The event, held at the main gymnasium at Saphan Hin Park, aimed to create awareness among youngsters as to the potential negative effect of corruption in society under the slogan ‘Fight to the max, stop cheating.’
Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat oversaw the event and was joined by selected government officials, local residents and school children.
As part of his opening speech to inaugurate the event, Governor Sophon emphasised how important it is to install a corruption free attitude within children from an early age, something that is crucial to building a transparent society based on strong morals.
The project aims to connect several public and private sector entities that are driving for enhanced anti-corruption measures locally, including the People’s Sector Network, the Phuket Province STRONG-Mind Against Corruption Club and government departments.
As part of the event a parade was organised throughout Saphan Hin Park to further create awareness as to the dangers of corruption in society and to drive the message that Phuket will not tolerate corruption in any form.
No information was provided in official government reports as to the exact nature of the sports activities as part of yesterday’s anti-corruption drive at Saphan Hin Park.
