Presiding over the event was Phuket Vice Governor Samawit Suphanphai, joined by key representatives including Piyanat La-ongthong, Head of the Phuket Children and Family Shelter, and Assoc Prof Thikun Phassen, Chairman of the Phuket branch of the For Freedom International Foundation.
Also present were Sompit Srikamhaeng, Director of the Department of Social Development and Human Security office in Phuket, along with executives from various government and private agencies.
The project aims to strengthen the emotional connections between children and their foster families, while promoting understanding of family roles and encouraging greater involvement in child development, said an official report of the event.
Ms Piyanat explained that the camp is designed to foster love, understanding and communication between children and parents in foster care arrangements.
A total of 16 host families, comprising 50 participants, joined the camp. Activities included workshops, team-building exercises and interactive sessions aimed at enhancing family bonds.
Each family received a monthly childcare subsidy of B2,000, with the total funding for the program amounting to B408,000.
In his remarks, Vice Governor Samawit emphasised the fundamental role of families in shaping the moral values, ethics and overall well-being of children and youth.
He expressed hope that the initiative would achieve its goals and contribute to the development of strong, nurturing family environments.
The 2025 Family Relations Camp Project is part of an ongoing effort to support foster families and ensure that all children grow up in safe, supportive and loving homes.
