Chakri Memorial Day is observed on Apr 6 every year ‒ this year observed on a Sunday. The day is celebrated as the founding day of the establishment of the Chakri Dynasty, and is commemorated with ceremonies held in honour of King Buddha Yodfa Chulalok the Great (Rama I) and the Chakri Royal Family.
His Majesty Maha Vajiralongkorn, the King of Thailand, is the 10th generation of the Chakri Dynasty, and is often referred to as Rama X.
Phuket Immigration this week also announced that its offices will be closed for five days over the Songkran holidays, from Apr 12-16.
While Apr 12-13 fall on a Saturday and Sunday, this year Phuket Immigration ‒ along with all other government offices on the island ‒ will be closed from Monday-Wednesday, Apr 14-16.
Government offices will reopen for normal operations on Thursday, Apr 17.
