The event was organised by the Phuket Provincial Employment Office in collaboration with JobBKK.com Co Ltd, with Phuket Vice Governor Suwit Pansengiam presiding over the opening ceremony. He was joined by Phuket Provincial Employment Officer Phichit Singthongkam, JobBKK Regional Marketing Communications Manager Phongsit Danprasertkul, along with representatives of government agencies, schools, and local businesses.

Over 100 employers and businesses offered positions at the fair, with applications open both in person and online. The fair welcomed all job seekers, including recent graduates, as well as the unemployed, ex-offenders, people with disabilities, the elderly and students seeking work during school breaks.

Mr Suwit said the event reflected cooperation between the public and private sectors to boost employment and ease labour shortages in Phuket’s fast-growing tourism sector.

“This event is a collaboration between the public and private sectors to increase job opportunities, promote employment, alleviate labor shortages, and facilitate job applicants in selecting positions that best suit their skills. This also builds confidence among employers, aligning with the concept of ‘Private Sector Leading, Government Supporting, Civil Society Completing,’” he said.

Mr Phichit added that the fair aimed to connect labour needs with Phuket’s tourism-driven businesses.

“This will not only increase job opportunities for the public, but also address labour shortages in Phuket’s growing tourism and service industries,” he said.

JobBKK’s Mr Phongsit highlighted the hybrid model of the event, designed to make recruitment more accessible.

“Applicants can apply both in person and online, while employers can access quality workers, effectively meeting the demands of digital employment,” he said.

The fair also included a panel discussion on ‘How Southern Service Workers Are Adapting to the New Wave of Tourism and Hotels’ and an invitation from Plan International Thailand for businesses to join the TUI Academy project.

The academy provides training and internship opportunities for young people aged 18-24 in food and beverage service, room service and chef assistant roles, in collaboration with Phang Nga Technical College and Phuket Vocational College.

Those unable to attend the fair can follow available job opportunities through the Phuket Provincial Employment Office Facebook page, the ‘Thai Mee Ngan Tam’ platform, and JobBKK.com.
