The event, held at the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation (PPAO) headquarters, was attended by prominent officials, including Phuket Provincial Palad Thiraphong Chuaychu, PPAO President Rewat Areerob.

Also present were heads of government agencies, civil servants, local government officials, and residents of Phuket.

Local Thai Day, observed annually on Mar 18, commemorates King Chulalongkorn’s establishment of Thailand’s first subdistrict municipality, Tha Chalom, on March 18, 1905. This historic act is recognised as a pivotal step in decentralising governance and strengthening local administrative bodies as part of Thailand’s democratic development.

During the ceremony, Vice Governor Adul Chuthong led a royal eulogy for King Chulalongkorn and read a message from the Minister of Interior emphasising the significance of local governance.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of a certificate of honour to PPAO Palad Akkrawat Sirithanthanakorn, recognising him as an outstanding local government official for 2024.
