The event, held at AA Marina Pier in Ratsada was a joint effort by the Ratsada Municipality, the Phuket Provincial Fisheries Office and other agencies under the Department of Fisheries. Phuket Vice Governor Suwit Phansengiam presided over the ceremony.
Government officials, representatives from fisheries agencies and members of the local community gathered to pay tribute to Her Majesty. During the ceremony. Participants offered royal eulogies and extended their best wishes on the occasion of the Queen’s birthday, noted an official report of the event.
Following the tribute, Vice Governor Suwit, joined by Prayut Rattanawan, Chief of the Phuket Provincial Fisheries Office, and other attendees, led the release of 500,000 giant freshwater prawns into the surrounding waters.
The aquatic animals were provided by the Phuket Coastal Aquaculture Research and Development Center.
The initiative not only honoured Her Majesty, whose birthday was celebrated on June 3, but also aimed to promote public participation in environmental conservation and help replenish natural water resources across the province, said the report.
