The event, held at Phuket Provincial Hall, brought together government officials, community leaders and residents to express their loyalty and gratitude to the princess, who is the second daughter of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit, and the younger sister of His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn.
Phuket Vice Governor Adul Chuthong presided over the ceremony, acting on behalf of Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat.
Also in attendance were Vice Governors Samawit Suphanphai and Suwit Phansengiam, along with the Governor’s wife, Ms Busadee ‒ who as the Governor’s wife holds the positions of President of the Phuket branch of the Red Cross Society of Thailand and President of the Phuket branch of the Ministry of Interior Housewives Association.
Leading the Buddhist ceremonies was Phra Udomwachiramongkol, who is the provincial ecclesiastical chief of Phuket and abbot of Wat Mongkol Nimit, which is designated a Royal temple.
The ceremony featured religious rituals, including Buddhist chanting and a royal blessing ceremony. Forty monks were present at the event, with 10 monks leading the chanting of Buddhist prayers.
The presiding chairman lit incense and candles to pay homage to the ‘Triple Gem’ (Buddha, Dharma and Sangha) and made an offering before a portrait of Her Royal Highness.
During the ceremony, the monks recited sacred Paritta chants, received traditional Thai offerings, and bestowed blessings upon attendees.
The chairman and participants also performed a merit-making ritual by offering alms to the monks, a gesture seen as an act of royal merit.
The event concluded smoothly, reflecting the deep reverence and devotion of the people of Phuket Province towards Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, noted an official report of the proceedings.
