Joining the Governor for the auspicious ceremony was his wife, Mrs Busadee, and a host of the island’s leading officials, including Vice Governors Sattha Thongkham, Adul Chuthong and Norasak Suksomboon.
Also present were heads of local government agencies, judicial authorities, military personnel, police, prosecutors and representatives from local government administration organisations (municipalities and OrBorTor), along with members from the private sector.
Phra Udom Wachiramongkol, the Phuket Provincial Abbot and the abbot of Wat Mongkol Nimit, a royal monastery, led the group of monks receiving alms. The alms-giving ceremony was conducted in honour of Her Majesty the Queen’s 46th Birthday Anniversary.
The auspicious occasion served to honour and bestow royal merit upon the Queen, reflecting the reverence and good wishes of the Thai people, said an official report of the event.
This evening, from 5:30pm, will be a series of additional ceremonies at the Phuket Auditorium, located on the grounds of the Phuket Provincial Administration Center on Tha Kraeng Rd, home to Phuket Provincial Hall.
The ceremonies this evening include the offering of royal offerings, the laying of wreaths and a candle-lighting ceremony to further express good wishes for Her Majesty the Queen.
People invited to join the ceremonies this evening include government officials and staff, police officers, state enterprise employees, municipality and OrBorTor officials and staff, private organisations, students, royal volunteers and residents of Phuket.
Attendees were encouraged to wear a variety of their formal uniforms, or Thai Amarin outfits in purple tones, traditional Thai cloth dresses or polite dress in purple tones, symbolising unity and respect for the Queen.
