Phuket honours businesses with Human Rights Certificates

PHUKET: Eleven Phuket businesses have been formally recognised for their commitment to respecting human rights in their operations, receiving Certificates of Completion (Business & Human Rights) at a provincial ceremony.

Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat presided over a presentation held at Phuket Provincial Hall on Friday (Sept 19). The event was jointly organised by the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRC) and the College of Management, Mahidol University.

Joining the Governor were National Human Rights Commissioner Pitikan Sittidech along with Nathut Phimpa, Assistant Dean for Sustainability at the College of Management, Mahidol University; Mr Nopphathorn Petchote, Vice President of the Phuket Chamber of Commerce; and business operators who had passed the assessment process.

The programme is aimed at promoting sustainable development alongside respect for human rights, through training and assessments that address risk analysis, policy development and organisational practices.

The 11 businesses awarded Certificates of Completion were:

  3. Khun Mae Ju Co Ltd
  4. Andaman Tracking Co Ltd
  5. Phuket Patcharee Tour Co Ltd
  6. Patcharee Tour Group Co Ltd
  7. Thees World Enterprise Co Ltd
  8. Phatcharaphiban Phuket School
  9. Siphattra Co Ltd
  10. Baan Yindee Boutique Resort Hotel
  11. Phuket International Petcare Center

Speaking at the event, Mr Nopphathorn of the Phuket Chamber of Commerce said the Chamber has made the promotion of human rights–based business practices a priority.

“We are ready to work with all sectors to build a strong and sustainable business network in Phuket,” he said, congratulating the certificate recipients.

Officials noted that the initiative reflects the commitment of Phuket’s business sector to act as a model for sustainable development while upholding human rights standards.
