The clinic, under Royal patronage of His Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, was held in village number 5 in Cherng Talay yesterday morning, overseen by Phuket Vice Governor Adul Chuthong, who chaired the opening ceremony and shared welcome remarks.

Mr Adul was joined by Jarasri Khamphirasingh, Phuket Provincial Agriculture Officer, Manoch Panchalad, President of the Cherng Thale Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, selected representatives of various local government offices as well as local farmers and residents.

The objective of the clinic, explained Mr Adul, is to provide best-practice academic learning opportunities for local farmers who can then implement such approaches to enhance their own operations, which will, ultimately, benefit consumers, the wider community and the environment.

Specific focus was allocated to several different topics at yesterday’s clinic, namely plants, soil, fisheries, livestock, rice, irrigation, rubber, agricultural extension, cooperative and accounting, legal, ALRO, and debt management.

Various stalls showcasing the latest information on agricultural innovations covering the above were on display, in addition to the showcasing of tools, equipment and the latest technologies that afforded attendees a practical perspective.

In her rmearks, Mrs Charatsri Khamphirasingh explained that the mobile clinic would be held every quarter in different locations in Phuket with the ultimate goal of providing farmers with ongoing educational resources to improve their functionality.

Cherng Talay was selected as the first location of the year to host the clinic due to its large concentration of local farmers and it being an area where important agricultural products are grown, including rubber plantations, vegetable gardens, ornamental flower gardens, integrated fruit orchards, livestock, fisheries and agricultural product processing plants.

In addition to the agricultural clinic, there was also a health check service for local pets and animals conducted by professional veterinarians free of charge.
