Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat presided over the opening ceremony, joined by Phuket City Mayor Supachok Laongphet, Phuket Provincial Commerce Office Chief Woranit Apiratjirawong, Phuket Chamber of Commerce President Kongsak Khoophongsakorn, Andaman Southern Industry Council President Chernporn Kanchanasaya and Phuket Provincial Industry Council President Nanmontawee Hongyok.
Held under the theme of ‘Smart SMEs’, the fair aims to strengthen Phuket’s local economy by supporting entrepreneurs and aligning with the national BCG (Bio-Circular-Green) Economy policy, which focuses on sustainability, creativity, and cross-sector participation, explained an official report of the event.
The fair opening drew enthusiastic crowds of both residents and tourists, with more than 300 booths showcasing a diverse range of locally produced goods, including Halal innovations, GI-certified products, processed agricultural items, handmade tie-dye fabrics using native flowers, and fragrances derived from pineapple peel.
“This fair is not only a marketplace but a strategic platform to promote tourism and showcase the potential of Phuket’s entrepreneurs,” Governor Sophon said. “It reflects the integrated efforts of government, business and the community to advance Phuket’s development under the Smart SMEs model.”
He praised the event’s product zoning and variety, highlighting quality offerings from local producers such as discounted eggs from Thaweephan Phuket and Rintip-brand vegetable oil. The event also featured business matching sessions to help connect local vendors with commercial buyers from other provinces.
Visitors also enjoyed stage performances and cultural displays throughout the day, helping to create a festive and vibrant atmosphere.
Organisers estimate the event will generate at least B20 million in direct economic activity, with overall spending expected to exceed B30 million during the fair’s four-day run.
The Phuket Harmony SMEs Fair is being held at Saphan Hin until Aug 3, and is open daily from 10am to 10pm.
Locals and tourists alike are encouraged to attend, shop for quality local products, and be part of Phuket’s journey toward a sustainable and inclusive economic future.
