The sacred water will be consecrated in honour of His Majesty the King’s 6th Cycle Birthday (72 years) on Sunday (July 28).
The ceremony took place in front of the Ministry of Interior and was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul. He was joined by Songsak Thongsri, Deputy Minister of Interior; Mr. Suthipong Chulcharoen, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior; Mr. Somjate Limpaphan, Advisor to the Minister of Interior; and Miss Traisulee Traisanakul, Secretary to the Minister of Interior.
The event saw the participation of senior management from the Ministry of Interior, governors from all provinces, civil servants, officials and members of the Volunteer Defense Corps (OrSor).
The procession was divided into nine parts:
- Police cars leading the procession
- The Royal Thai Army Band
- Members of the Volunteer Defense Corps, carrying the national flag and the royal emblem flag for the auspicious ceremony
- A vehicle carrying the sacred Buddhist holy water
- Senior management team of the Ministry of Interior
- Provincial governors and the Governor of Bangkok
- The designated person invited to pour the holy water
- Civil servants from the Department of Provincial Administration, Ministry of Interior
- Police cars bringing up the rear to block the procession
The procession comprised 581 participants and stretched 126 metres in length, said an official report of the event.
This sacred event marks a significant celebration of His Majesty the King’s milestone birthday and underscores the deep reverence and cultural heritage of Thailand.
