The warning, issued through the Phuket Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office (DDPM), follows forecasts from the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) predicting continuous rain and high waves between Nov 5-10, with some areas expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Governor Saransak, who also serves as Director of the Phuket Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command, urged residents ‒ especially those in low-lying or hillside areas ‒ to remain on alert for flash floods, forest runoff and mudslides, and to closely monitor updates from local authorities.

“People are advised to be vigilant and monitor the situation. Reservoirs with more than 80% storage capacity may risk overflowing, and strong winds may also cause damage in some areas,” the Governor said in his public announcement.

The TMD’s Southern Meteorological Center (West Coast) issued Weather Advisory No. 4 (81/2025) this morning (Nov 6), warning of a ‘rather strong southwesterly wind’ prevailing over the Andaman Sea and the west coast of southern Thailand. The system is being intensified by the influence of Typhoon Kalmaegi, currently moving over the South China Sea.

Affected provinces include Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun.

“Abundant rain with heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in some areas,” Wirote Lewcharoenthrap**, Director of the Southern Meteorological Center (West Coast), noted in his weather alert this morning.

Waves in the Andaman Sea are forecast to reach two to three metres, and over three metres in thunderstorm areas. All vessels are urged to proceed with caution, and small boats are advised to stay ashore until conditions improve.

Meanwhile, local flooding has already been reported in Patong, where heavy rainfall combined with high tides led to flooding along Nanai Soi 8. Phuket MP Chalermpong Saengdee confirmed that several homes and businesses along the road were inundated, with residents moving belongings to higher ground.

DDPM officials continue to monitor conditions across the island and have placed emergency response teams on standby.

Residents are urged to report flood or landslide emergencies through the Safety Hotline 1784, or via the Phuket DDPM Line account @DDPM1784.
