Mrs Busadee Suwannarat, President of the Phuket Red Cross Society, President of the Interior Housewives Club and wife of Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat, was joined by selected public sector officials to host the occasion.
Among the activities on offer to the visiting children was the opportunity to pretend to be Governor for the day by sitting in Mr Sophon’s official chair in his office, something overseen by the Governor himself.
Furthermore, there were a series of fun games and activities organised in the courtyard where prizes and gifts were distributed in addition to snacks and milk being given out.
Today’s event at Provincial Hall follows a similar celebration held yesterday at Phuket Kindergarten School overseen by Rewat Areerob, President of the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization (PPAO) who was joined by school directors Wilas Pariniyom and Vilas Pariniyaniyom, in addition to teachers, parents and students.
Mr Rewat thanked everyone involved in organising the occasion, which contributes greatly to supporting children’s development and allows them to prosper in future.
Mr Rewat highlighted the motto shared by Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin of “Look at the world, think creatively, respect differences and let’s build democracy together” as especially relevant in the development of children.
Similarly, Mr Rewat thanked everyone for arranging the day’s activities and for organising the range of gifts and prizes that were distributed to children throughout the event, an occasion celebrated globally on the second Saturday of January each year.
Mr Vilas echoed these sentiments, explaining that the day strives to encourage children to understand the importance of being a respectful and diligent child while being able to express oneself in a constructive and effective manner.
Children are tomorrow’s generation and the future of the nation and therefore developing the right character traits at an early age will be beneficial to helping progress and stability within the country prevail, Mr Vilas added.
Further events to mark the occasion were held across the island, including at Ban Ko Maprao school, Rajabhat University and Loma Park at Patong Beach.
