The festival, which continues through to Mar 23, aims to generate at least B10 million in revenue for the local community while promoting local businesses and sustainable practices.

The long-running event, now in its 27th year, will feature more than 300 food stalls offering a variety of local delicacies, agricultural products and goods from community enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Phuket Town Deputy Mayor Prasert Sinsaophak explained at a press launch held earlier this week to announce the festival.

Of note, Mr Prasert is also the President of the Phuket City Municipality Food Business Operators Association.

Visitors can also enjoy stage performances by students from Phuket City Municipality schools, providing them with a platform to gain experience and develop public speaking skills, Mr Prasert said.

Additionally, well-known singers and artists will entertain attendees throughout the festival, he added.

Beyond its culinary delights, the festival plays a vital role in stimulating the local economy and enhancing tourism in Phuket, Mr Prsaert noted.

“The aim of the annual festival is to create jobs, generate income and improve the overall quality of life for residents,’ Mr Prasert said.

“The event also emphasises environmental responsibility by prohibiting foam containers and encouraging waste management at the source to reduce waste accumulation,” he added.

“With a daily revenue target of at least B1mn, the festival is expected to make a significant economic impact for local food operators,” he said.
