The ceremony, held at Phibun Sawatdi Municipality School yesterday (Sept 8), was presided over by Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat and organised by the Phuket Special Education Center.

The scholarships, each valued at B5,000, were bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi, Chairwoman of the Khun Phum Foundation, to support children with special needs in their education and personal development.

In a royal message, Princess Ubolratana congratulated the recipients and urged parents to use the support to nurture their children’s potential.

“I would like to congratulate the scholarship recipients and ask that they use the funds to develop the potential of their children with special needs, enabling them to live meaningful lives and live happily in society,” the message read.

Governor Sophon conveyed the royal address at the ceremony, describing the scholarships as a source of great joy and encouragement for the children, their families and teachers.

The Khun Phum Foundation, established under the Princess’s patronage, has long supported children with autism and disabilities across Thailand, aiming to create opportunities for education, inclusion and improved quality of life.
