Local municipalities across the island have been hard at work preparing for the day. Yesterday (Jan 10), Patong Municipality kickstarted the celebrations with a beach cleanup campaign at Loma Park, where festivities are in full swing today.

Patong Municipality’s ‘Cleanliness Campaign for National Children’s Day 2025’ brought together government officials, local residents and business owners to clean up Patong Beach. Led by Deputy Mayor Awat Nuchet, the initiative aimed to promote environmental stewardship and prepare the area for today’s activities at Loma Public Park.

The Public Health and Environment Division of Patong Municipality organised the campaign to instill a sense of responsibility in preserving natural resources and maintaining clean community spaces.

In Phuket Town, Mayor Saroj Angkanaphilas opened Children’s Day activities yesterday at Wat Khacharrangsan Municipality School. The mayor emphasised the importance of nurturing children as the nation’s future leaders.

“Children are like trees; they grow beautifully when they have strong roots,” he said, encouraging adults to work together to provide a supportive foundation for the next generation.

Today, Chalermprakiat Rama X Park, also known as ‘Suan Luang’ is temporarily closed to the public to accommodate Children’s Day festivities, which feature interactive games, performances and educational activities.

Kathu Municipality is hosting its Children’s Day event at Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus, where children can enjoy booths, games, performances, and push bike activities designed to combine fun with life skill development.

Mayor Wannayut Suttikul highlighted the municipality’s focus on fostering creativity and resilience in children. “We aim to equip children with the skills to grow into quality adults for their families, society and country,” he said.

The event also features activities designed to improve physical and mental well-being, encouraging children to embrace teamwork and adaptability in line with this year’s theme.

From Patong to Kathu and Phuket Town, National Children’s Day 2025 is bringing joy and inspiration to children across the island, underscoring the importance of youth as Thailand’s future.

All other local municipalities  in Phuket, in Wichit, Chalong, Rawai, Kara-Karon, Cherng Talay and elsewhere are all holding their own Children’s Day celebrations.

As celebrations continue, parents and children are invited to join the various events, where fun, learning and community spirit take centre stage.
