The advisory was announced through national state news agency NNT as Phuket airport held a dragon dance in the departures terminal on Thursday, and welcomed a flight arriving from China.

Many people are expected to travel to Phuket during the Chinese New Year festival, Mr Monchai noted.

An average of 49,000 passengers ‒ comprising 33,000 international passengers and 16,000 domestic passengers ‒ are expected to pass through the airport from Feb 4-16, Mr Monchai said, repeating his prediction announced on Monday.

“There are many people traveling, and using Phuket airport. Therefore, we request passengers’ cooperation to allow two to three hours for their travel time to prevent missing their flights,” he said.

People can check the route and flight schedules through the "SAWASDEE by AOT" application or for additional information call the airport Contact Center at 076-351111 or 076-351801, he said.

And if service users see anything unusual or experiencing an emergency or disaster, you can notify the security center at Phuket Airport by calling 076-351191, 24 hours a day,” he added.

Phuket airport has arranged special activities for mark Chinese New Year, including a dragon and lion dance held in the departures hall on Thursday afternoon.

A decorated booth for taking photos has been in the departure check-in hall. Souvenirs to mark Chinese New Year Festival will be handed out to tourists until Feb 12

Souvenirs were handed out to Chinese tourists who arrived on Juneyao Air flight HO 1323, arriving direct from Shanghai.

“We are ready to welcome the Year of the Golden Dragon and create a very good impression on passengers and users of our services,” Mr Monchai said.
