The outage, which began at 6:25pm, affected the Thalang District area, including the airport, Airports of Thailand Phuket branch (AoT Phuket) said in an announcement posted online.
The incident was caused by damage to PEA’s transmission system, rendering them unable to distribute electricity. During this period, Phuket Airport’s backup generators provided power to essential systems within the passenger and office buildings, ensuring that important aviation services were not disrupted, the statement said.
The PEA resolved the issue promptly, restoring electricity to the airport by 6:40pm. Normal electrical supply resumed by 6:50pm, the statement confirmed.
AoT Phuket apologised for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the understanding of all passengers and stakeholders during the disruption.
