In announcing the training underway, Veerasak Insaeng, Director of Fire and Rescue Services at the airport, emphasised that Phuket International Airport was elevating its safety protocols to provide reassurance to passengers and staff.
“This initiative includes practical drills for marine rescue and the use of inflatable boats, designed to improve the skills and familiarity of marine rescue personnel with their equipment,” he said.
The training sessions are specifically tailored to prepare the rescue team for emergency scenarios involving aircraft accidents within a two-kilometre radius from the Aerodrome Reference Point.
The drills are being held at the northern end of the runway, today and tomorrow (June 19-20).
