A coordinated police operation led to the arrest of Ekkarat Priappan, 38, found hiding in the forest in Chana District, Songkhla Province, yesterday (Nov 14).
He had been evading arrest by staying with his half-brother, who is the Phu Yai Baan of Moo 2 and 3 in Tambon Na Thap, Chana District.
Ekkarat was wanted for the murder of his ex-wife in Phang Nga, found stabbed to death on Nov 3.
Following a tip-off, police located Ekkarat in on Wednesday (Nov 13). When officers arrived, he attempted to flee into a nearby forest.
However, “with assistance from local village leaders and his half-brother”, police said, Ekkarat agreed to surrender.
He was subsequently taken into custody at Khuan Mit Police Station, where he was presented with the arrest warrant and informed of his charges.
Ekkarat has been transferred to Talat Yai Police Station in Phang Nga, where he faces charges of premeditated murder and illegal possession of a weapon.
