Deputy Pattaya City Mayor Wutthisak Roemkitchakan has revealed that a surge of complaints has been received about beachgoers engaging in loud music, alcohol consumption and littering during nighttime hours, reports state news agency NNT.
he problem escalates when these late-night beachgoers refused to leave when city sanitation officials arrive in the early morning hours to clean the beaches, resulting in the city’s beach being littered with trash, which negatively affects the city’s scenery, Mr Wutthisak said.
According to the deputy mayor, the city’s beaches have seen an increase in visitors following recent expansion and renovation efforts. While weekdays remain relatively serene, weekends witness a rise in visitors who extend their festivities well into the night.
He also explained that efforts to improve beach patrols have been hindered by staffing limitations.
To address the problem, discussions are ongoing to introduce specified operating hours for these beaches.
Meanwhile, open-air nightclubs in the area have also been asked to manage noise levels while officials have advised entertainment venues to construct soundproof spaces to minimize disturbances.
The deputy mayor added that city officials and local law enforcement are currently working together to reduce noise pollution in the seaside city.
