Patong to honour LGBTQ+ marriage on Valentine’s Day

PHUKET: Patong Municipality is leading the way with the official events for Valentine’s Day this year, honouring 14 LGBTQ+ couples registering their marriage on the ‘Day of Love’.

Under the campaign ‘Love is Love’, Patong Municipality will honour 14 male-female couples and 14 LGBTQ+ couples as special guests, complete with giving them a gift voucher.

Registration of all 28 couples to be given special treatment on the day have been received, Kathu District Chief Theeraphong Chuaychu explained at a press conference at  at Phuket Provincial Hall chaired by Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat yesterday (Jan 31).

Meanwhile, Thalang District Chief Pairoj Srilamul explained that the Thalang District Registrar’s Office invites couples to register their marriage on Valentine’s Day under the campaign ‘Destiny bound at Layan Beach, eternal love’.

Registration for couples to enter the special guest initiative, an annual exercise for local officials on Valentine’s Day, closes Feb 10. People can register by contacting the Thalang District Office Registration Office at Tel: 076-313992 during government hours.

Wichet Suyanan, Chief Administrative Officer (Palad) at Mueang Phuket District Office, said that the Mueang Phuket District Registration Office Scheduled is holding its activity "Marriage, love, care for each other at Paradise Island @ Muang Phuket", targeting 50 couples.

Couples have until Feb 10 to register with the Muang Phuket District Registration Office. The office can be contacted at Tel: 076-224911 or 081 8933290 for more details.

Currently, 34 couples have registered with the office to register their marriage on Feb 14, Mr Wichet said.

All couples who register their marriage at the Muang Phuket District Office on Valentine’s Day will receive souvenirs, he said.
