Patong Police arrest foreigner for drunk driving

PHUKET: A man from Russia was arrested in Patong just after midnight today (Mar 21) for operating a scooter under the influence.

David Sakisain, aged 29, was apprehended by Patong Police for drunk driving at around 12:28am today (Mar 22). He was caught in front of Phuket Palace Condominium on Sirirat Rd.

Mr Sarkisyan’s blood test showed a result of 98 points, nearly twice the legal limit for Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC). Th esispect wass taken to Patong Police Station and charged accordingly.

Of note, the penalty for drunk driving includes up to one year of imprisonment or a fine ranging from B5,000 to B20,000, or both, in addition to a driver’s license suspension for six months. The penalty for a drunk accident is significantly higher.
