The suspect was apprehended in the early hours of Monday morning (Mar 3) following a coordinated police effort, report Patong Police.
The arrest was carried out at about 1:10am by officers at the Baan Phala checkpoint, led by Pol Lt Thiraphong Rakchana working with police from Pathomporn Intersection checkpoint in Chumphon and officers from Patong Police Station.
The suspect, not named in the brief report by police, was found in possession of a stolen white Toyota Yaris 1.2J CVT, police confirmed.
The theft occurred the previous evening, at around 8:25pm, when the car was stolen from outside a beach club on Thaweewong Rd (the Patong beach road), Patong Police noted.
The owner of the vehicle promptly filed a complaint with Patong Police Station at 8:55pm.
Following the report, Patong Police launched an investigation and alerted officers across multiple jurisdictions.
Their efforts led to the swift apprehension of the suspect in Chumphon province.
The suspect and the recovered vehicle were brought back to Patong Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Offices have charged the individual with theft or receiving stolen property as the investigation continues, Patong Police said.
