The video footage came from an unnamed tourist who was part of an excursion visting the religious site on Thepkrasattri Rd late Friday afternoon.
The 45 second clip shows what appears to be two male teenagers outside a building in the temple grounds. One of the youths, wearing a long white sleeved shirt and black trousers, has his head partially covered with headwear while the other’s blond hair is clearly on show.
The youth in the white shirt appears to have what are known as wheelfeet attached to his footwear, something very similar to traditional rollerskates. The video shows him scale the steps of the building and take several looks around as if surveying his surroundings before skating off the steps and sliding down the hand rail to the floor.
The video shows the youth repeating this act a further three times while the blond haired youth films him.
At time of press, details of the two teens remain unknown, including their names, age, nationality and whether they live in Phuket or are tourists.
Comments left on the Phuket Info Center Facebook page where the tourist’s video was posted generally lambasted the teenager’s behaviour, criticising it as a huge show of disrespect at a religious site that is so sacriligious to Thai culture and community.
