The operation, which began at 2:06am, involved a coordinated team of provincial and district officials, security officers and anti-drug volunteers led by Chaiporn Yangchin, an officer from the Narcotics Control Board.

Joining the raid were personnel from Thalang District ‘Company 3’ unit of the Volunteer Defense Corps (OrSor).

The suspect, identified only as ‘Mr A’, was arrested at a house in Moo 4, Thepkrasattri. Officers reportedly found 3,592 methamphetamine pills in his possession.

‘Mr A’ faces charges of possession of a Category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine) with intent to sell without permission – a charge deemed to be part of a larger distribution operation; and use of a Category 1 narcotic without legal authorisation.

He was taken into custody and, along with the seized evidence, handed over to investigators at Thalang Police Station for formal legal proceedings, said an official report of teh raid.

The raid forms part of Phuket’s ongoing efforts under the ‘White Interior’ anti-drug initiative aimed at creating drug-free communities across the province.

No Drugs, No Dealers

Later yesterday, Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat chaired the second Police Administration Commission meeting of 2025, reinforcing Phuket’s commitment to tackling the drug problem through the now national ‘No Drugs, No Dealers’ policy and urging greater public participation in policing efforts.

Held at the Phuket Immigration Police Office, the meeting focused on strengthening drug suppression operations across the island and enhancing collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the public.

Pol Maj Gen Sinlert Sukhum, Commander of Phuket Provincial Police, joined the meeting alongside committee members and other qualified experts to review current strategies and explore further steps to ensure public safety and community engagement.

Governor Sophon stressed the importance of integrating the government’s drug eradication policies with local enforcement and community involvement. The meeting also addressed broader goals of increasing transparency and effectiveness in police operations, particularly in relation to public safety, protection of property, and ongoing efforts to prevent and reduce drug use and distribution.

“The fight against drugs cannot be won by police alone,” the governor said. “We must empower local communities to take an active role in prevention and monitoring.”

The initiative is part of a wider provincial effort to create sustainable, long-term solutions to drug-related problems in Phuket through community policing and cross-agency cooperation.
