The meeting, chaired by Phuket Vice Governor Adul Chuthong, was also joined by fellow Vice Governor Suwit Phansengiam as well as Chamnan Tanthawachiraphan, who serves as head of the Phuket branch of the Attorney-General’s Office (OAG), along with Rear Admiral Prapan Srisuwipa of the Phuket branch of the Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc) and Pol Col Jirasak Siemsak, a Deputy Commander of Phuket Provincial Police.
Also in attendance were heads of various government departments and agency representatives.
The event began with an awards ceremony honouring individuals, families and organisations for their efforts in public service and community development.
Plaques were awarded to groups that helped promote municipal elections, certificates of appreciation were given to families participating in the ‘San Jai Thai Su Jai Tai’ cultural exchange initiative and honorary plaques were given to community organisations recognised for exemplary moral conduct during the 2024 fiscal year.
Following the ceremony, the meeting shifted focus to preparations for two significant upcoming royal engagements: celebrations for Her Majesty Queen Suthida’s birthday on June 3, and a visit from Her Royal Highness Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya on June 6 to inspect progress on the ‘To Be Number One’ anti-drug campaign.
Officials emphasised the importance of meticulous planning to ensure all events uphold royal protocols and reflect the province’s respect and readiness.
Attendees also reviewed ongoing policy implementation across multiple sectors. Key discussion points included accelerating the disbursement of the government’s annual budget, addressing traffic congestion in urban areas, managing the issue of undocumented foreign workers, and advancing Phuket’s economic and social development pillars, said an official report of the meeting.
Other topics included boosting tourism, improving public sector transparency through the Integrity and Transparency Assessment (ITA) and monitoring “the province’s response” to potential natural disasters and public health threats.
Officials described the meeting as a crucial mechanism for integrating government efforts and ensuring that national and provincial policies translate into concrete benefits for the people of Phuket.
“This collaboration among agencies reflects our shared commitment to sustainable development and a stronger, more resilient Phuket,” Vice Governor Adul.
