The meeting, led by Committee Vice Chairman Phiraphich Ongcharoen, took place at the Phuket Provincial Public Works and Town & Country Planning Office.
Among the key officials in attendance was Charuwit Sathianrangsrit, Chief of the Phuket Provincial Public Works and Town & Country Planning Office.
The committee focused on several construction projects aimed at flood prevention, said an official report of the meeting.
Among the projects discussed were the construction of two retaining walls along Klong Bang Yai, one along each side, to protect the Old Town area, with each retaining wall funded by a budget of B25 million.
Other projects included flood prevention work at Khlong Tha Kraeng (B12mn), Chang Phan Lang in Tambon Srisoonthorn (B18mn), Klong Tha Ruea (B11mn), and the construction of an earthen dam at Klong Thalang in the Bo Kruat community (B22mn).
During the meeting, the committee stressed the importance of transparency in all operations, with a particular emphasis on the Klong Bang Yai retaining wall project.
Once completed, the project is expected to offer a long-term solution to the persistent flooding in Phuket’s Old Town, the report concluded.
