PPAO President Rewat Areerob chaired a meeting at the Phuket Merlin Hotel to outline the campaign which specifically focuses on the fiscal year ahead of 2024.

In attendance were a variety of senior government officials and council members in addition to members of the public, including children from selected schools across the island.

In his opening remarks Mr Rewat explained that the PPAO Internal Audit Unit organised the project to raise awareness among children and youngsters in the local community about the damaging effects of corruption and the severe extent of problems that it causes.

He added that the common goal is to work together to create a society that does not tolerate corruption by installing key values among members of the community such as honesty, morality, ethics, patience and sacrifice.

In the lead up to and as part of the campaign, students from selected schools participated in a special art contest where drawings were done around the theme of ‘Cultivating Consciousness for Phuket Transparency’.

This saw schools from three districts contributing to 49 teams which were divided into four groups which will be judged by a panel of five officials.

Although there was no mention of prizes for the winning teams in the report, it was confirmed that every child participating in the project would receive a commemorative certificate to mark to occasion.
