More than 50 structures have been identified on the site, officials noted.
“Authorities will be issuing demolition warnings with a 30-45 day deadline for removal. Failure to comply will result in the government removing the structures and charging all related expenses to the encroachers,” confirmed state news agency NNT.
The deadline for removing the illegal structures follows a raid at Nui Beach by more than 100 officers yesterday (Mar 12), led by Bannaruk Sermthong, Deputy Director-General of the Royal Forest Department.
Among the illegal structures identified were a bar and restaurant, a scenic viewpoint, small bungalows, among others.
The structures were all confirmed to have been built after the Royal Thai Navy demolished all buildings at Nui Beach in 2020.
“In this matter, the court has already decided on the land rights at Nui Beach, but government officials in the area continue to receive benefits,” Mr Bannaruk said yesterday, openly accusing local officials of corruption.
