Nigerian man arrested in Patong for selling cocaine

PHUKET: Patong Police have arrested a 31-year-old Nigerian man in a sting operation after he was caught selling cocaine in the parking lot of Patong Hospital last night (Nov 18).

The operation, conducted at 6:55pm, was carried out under the direction of Patong Police Superintendent Col Chalermchai Hirasawat, reported Patong Police.

The investigative team was led by Lt Col Suchart Chumphusang, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, together with Lt Col Saran Chaiwut, Chief of the Investigation Division.

According to police, officers set up a controlled purchase valued at B6,000, during which the suspect handed over two bags of cocaine totalling approximately 1.10 grammes.

The man was immediately taken into custody and later charged with distributing a Category 2 narcotic (cocaine) without a licence, Patong Police noted.

The man, not identified by name in the public report, and the seized evidence were transported to Patong Police Station for further legal proceedings, police confirmed.
