Nguyen crossed the finish line in a time of 2 hours 51 minutes and 37seconds to sweep all individual awards for the day in a race that offers the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup to the overall winner.
The first stage of the women’s race commenced from Phitsanulok, passing through Si Samrong to Sukhothai province, covering a distance of 112.70 kilometres, reports the Bangkok Post.
Second position was secured by Thai cyclist Jutatip Maneephan of the Thailand Women’s Cycling team, also with a time of 2h 51m 37s. Claudia Marcks of the Bikewheels.Com.Au Cycling team claimed third spot.
Nguyen also claimed the Yellow Jersey for the overall individual standings with a time of 2h 51m 25s. Jutatip secured second place, trailing the leader by a mere 0.03 seconds, while Claudia Marcks took third place.
Nguyen also earned the Best Asean Rider award, represented by the Purple Jersey. Jutatip claimed second place in the same category, with Kamonrada Khaoplot finishing third. However, Kamonrada of the Thailand National team was awarded the title of the most Combative rider.
The Malaysian National Team emerged victorious in the first stage of the overall team classification, boasting a total time of 8h 34m 51s. They additionally secured the Best Asean Team Performance prize.
The Bikewheels.com.au Cycling team claimed the second position, with the Thailand Women’s Cycling team rounding off the top three.
