Myanmar overstayer arrested for motorcycle theft in Patong

PHUKET: Patong Police have arrested a 22-year-old Myanmar national for allegedly stealing a motorcycle and for being in the country illegally.

The arrest took place at about 6pm yesterday (Oct 13) behind a hotel at the southern end of Patong. Police identified the suspect as Snwe Tut, 22, from Myanmar.

Officers seized as evidence a black and red Honda Click i motorcycle, which had been reported stolen last Friday (Oct 10).

Patong Police, led by Pol Lt Col Saran Chaiwut, Investigation Inspector, and Pol Lt Col Sinchai Sukkhi, Deputy Inspector of Investigation, made the arrest under the supervision of Pol Col Chalermchai Hirasawat, Superintendent of Patong Police Station, and Pol Lt Col Suchart Chumphusang, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, Patong Police reported.

Tut was taken to Patong Police Station and charged with theft or receiving stolen property and entering and staying in the Kingdom without permission.

Police confirmed that legal proceedings are underway.
