The announcement, posted publicly by the Phuket branch of the Public relations Department (PR Phuket) late yesterday (Nov 25), warned that traffic in the area is expected to be heavily congested during that period and recommended that drivers use alternative routes.
“The Phuket Provincial Office apologises for any inconvenience and thanked motorists for their cooperation,” the brief announcement concluded.
No reason was given for the request for motorists to not use one of the busiest, and often, jammed, roads on the island.
