Police were called to the scene, on the downhill slope at the western end of the road, at about 8pm.

Rescue workers from Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation and police officers arrived at the scene to find three damaged vehicles: a passenger van, a white pickup truck and a blue-black Honda PCX motorcycle.

The motorbike rider, named by police as Prasong Sihanat, 61, from Phuket, was found trapped beneath the pickup truck. Rescue workers pulled him free, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was later taken to Patong Hospital for examination before being released to his family for funeral rites.

The van was driven by Wirayut Meechan, 41, from Trang, while the pickup truck was driven by Suthep Sommat, 37, from Krabi. Both men escaped injury.

CCTV footage and initial investigations indicated that Mr Prasong had ridden his motorcycle out from the entrance of the Wyndham Sea Pearl Resort and into the path of the van, causing a collision. The motorcycle then struck the pickup truck approaching from the opposite direction, leading to the fatal crash.

Police confirmed that alcohol tests were conducted on both surviving drivers. Officers also recorded the scene and questioned the drivers further as part of the ongoing investigation.
