The operation, conducted at midday, was led by Phuket Marine Chief Natchapong Pranit, joined by Somkid Chokong, Advisor to the Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat along with marine officials and officers from the Thalang Police and Marine Police.
According to an official report of the inspection, the operation was conducted under the directive of Governor Sophon.
The inspection discovered 11 jet-skis without valid licenses and one boat with an expired license.
Legal action was taken against the operators, with fines issued under Section 9 of the Thai Navigation Act, B.E. 2456, amended by Section 60 (No. 14) B.E. 2535, confirmed the report.
Each violator was fined B10,000 per vessel, said the report, without confirming how many operators were caught with unlicensed jet-skis or any mention of any vessels being seized.
Operators were instructed to cease offering jet-ski services to tourists until all legal requirements are fully met, the report said.
