Officials from Mueang Phuket District Office inspected three shops in Ratsada on Nov 20: two in Soi Kuku, Moo 3, near Baan Kuku School, and another in an alley behind Phuket Rajabhat University in Moo 6.
The team was led by District Deputy Chief for Security Thiti Bunyasathian and Deputy District Chief Aphichat Chanthawong, supported by members of the Phuket City Volunteer Defense Corps Company 1 (OrSor).
Also present were officers from the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB).
All three shops were found to be operating within 1,000 metres of an educational institution boundary, in breach of Section 25(1) of the Kratom Act B.E. 2565 (2022), said an official report of the raids.
They were also found to be in violation of regulations under the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Public Health announcements on prohibited locations and conditions for kratom sales, issued earlier this year.
Officials prepared inspection reports, documented the circumstances of the offences and collected evidence for submission to the ONCB Region 8 Office, which will consider fines under the law, the report said.
Mueang District officials stressed that while kratom is legal, sales must comply strictly with all conditions, particularly restrictions on locations near schools.
Enforcement will continue in order to prevent harm to children, students and the wider community, the officials warned.
