Pairoj Srilamul, District Chief of Thalang, presided over the opening of the project, which is under the royal patronage of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn.
Mr Pairoj was joined by Manoch Phanchalad, Mayor of Chengtalay Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, Charassri Khamphirasingh, Provincial Agriculture Officer of Phuket, in addition to representatives from the local office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
Mr Pairoj explained the project is funded and organised under the 2024 budget with the goal of providing the latest in agricutural knowledge and innovations to help local farmers solve a whole range of challenges they typically face.
The Cherng Talay subdistrict has more than 284 farmer-listed households, Mr Pairoj said, most of whom are engaged in rubber plantations, mixed fruit orchards, livestock, fisheries and agricultural tourism.
He further explained that the mobile clinic project will provide a range of support services, including:
- 11 agricultural clinics, including plant clinics, soil clinics, fisheries clinics, livestock clinics and others, to provide in-depth consultation in each area.
- Service activities from six separate agencies, such as the Phuket Provincial Employment Office and the Phuket Provincial Energy Office.
- A local knowledge transfer initiative which includes techniques for raising egg-laying chickens and urban agriculture.
- Knowledge exhibitions on environmentally friendly agriculture techniques, such as managing climate change.
- Sales of community products to generate income for local enterprise groups.
The ultimate goal, explained Mr Pairoj, is to encourage and promote farmers to farm efficiently, create sustainable careers and quality of life and respond to the sustainable development of Phuket as a province.
It is believed that this project will help enhance knowledge and develop the potential of farmers in the area to keep up with the times and create a strong future for farmers, Mr Pairoj concluded.
