The Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Center Region 3 branch (Thai MECC 3), based at Cape Panwa, was informed that the yacht, named ‘Seabeat’, was missing from its mooring at about 8:10am.

The vessel, moored to a buoy near the Ao Chalong Boat Yacht Repair Dock, had likely broken loose the night before due to rough sea conditions, Thai MECC 3 was told.

The Seabeat is captained by Mr Prateep, who contacted authorities and assisted in the search efforts, Thai MECC 3 noted its report.

A search was launched for the missing yacht, calling in assistance from Phuket Marine Police and other vessels operating in the area.

At around 2.30pm a local boat operator reported a yacht matching Seabeat’s description adrift between Koh Yao Yai and Phi Phi Island, without anyone onboard.

Upon receiving the coordinates, the boat was soon successfully recovered and brought back safely to Chalong Bay, Thai MECC 3 confirmed.

The report by Thai MECC 3 made no mention of any damage to the boat.
