The event, organised by Phuket Rajabhat University (PKRU) and the PKRU Business Promotion Committee (KSOM), kicked off at 6:40pm and is set to run until Jan 28.

Among the guests present for the official opening were Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat, and his wife Mrs Busadee, joined by Phuket Rajabhat University President Asst Prof Dr Hiran Prasarnkarn.

Also present was Phongsawat Yodsurang, President of OTOP for Society Co Ltd and Rewat Areerob, President of Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation (PPAO).

The primary objective of the Rajabhat Fair, held at the Phuket Rajabhat University campus north of Phuket Town, is to raise funds for scholarships and support the ongoing development of the university.

The event will feature over 220 booths offering One Tambon One Product (OTOP) goods from various regions of Thailand. In addition to showcasing local products, the fair will host an electric vehicle innovation exhibition and numerous activities, including lucky draws.

The initiative aims not only to promote tourism but also to stimulate economic activity in Phuket province, explained an official report of the event opening.

Organisers expect the ‘Rajabhat Fair’ to generate more than B30 million, contributing significantly to the grassroots economy. The funds raised will be used for scholarships to support students and contribute to the sustainable development of the university.

The fair invites locals, tourists, and academics alike to explore the diverse range of OTOP products and educational innovations. By participating in the event, visitors will not only contribute to the local economy but also play a role in advancing education and fostering sustainable social development in the region, the official report noted.
